Teutonic Leather Arm Bracers

The Teutonic Knights were a German-based Roman Catholic Crusader order formed in the late 12th century. They were a crusading military order and wore white surcoats with a black cross. The knights sometimes used a cross pattée as their coat of arms; which later became the German Iron Cross. They played an important role in controlling the port tolls of Acre. After the Crusades, the Knights moved to Transylvania to defend Hungary against the Cumans. As with the Knights Templar, the Teutonic Knights faced persecution through the years and continued to decline slowly through the middle ages, and Napoleon Bonaparte ordered its dissolution in 1809. The Order  survived Napoleon though, and continued to exist, headed by Habsburgs through World War I to the present day.
